Meet the Speakers/Trainers

Linda Wallace

Trainer
University Innovation Fund Collaboration Manager, Scottish Funding Council
The University Innovation Fund (UIF) aims to incentivise universities in Scotland to work collaboratively to design and adopt innovative new approaches to exploiting the research base for economic and societal benefit: in my role as the UIF Collaboration Manager (funded by the Scottish Funding Council), I am facilitating partnership working both within/across the HEI sector (e.g. the Universities Scotland Research & Commercialisation Directors Group (RCDG)) and across sectors and innovation support partners (such as the Enterprise Agencies, Scottish Government, Interface, Innovation Centres and Industry Leadership Groups etc.). We aim to create more opportunities for collaboration and coordination of our efforts to deliver shared outcomes (UIF Outcomes http://www.sfc.ac.uk/innovation/innovation-funding.aspx), which aim to increased Knowledge Exchange from Scottish Universities to underpin delivery of the Scottish Government’s economic strategy. Hosted by University of the West of Scotland, I provide leadership, guidance and support across all 19 Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in Scotland to achieve delivery of the collaborative elements of the University Innovation Fund: 12 key activities clustered into 4 areas aligned to the Scottish Government priorities: Innovation, Investment & Entrepreneurship, Inclusive Growth and Internationalisation. In addition, I am developing a new framework for reporting and evaluating progress in delivering the collaborative UIF activities, their outputs and contribution to achieving the UIF Outcomes
