'Spinning Out Success' Octopus Ventures (Nov 2020)

'Spinning Out Success' is the second annual report from Octopus Ventures which ranks UK universities on 'entrepreneurial impact'. (following on from 2019's 'Research to Riches'. The goal of this report is to identify which institutions create "investor-ready" spinouts and share the reasons why Octopus believes such institutions are successful.  

'Research to Riches' Entrepreneurial Impact Ranking, Octopus Ventures (2019)

'Research to Riches' was published by the venture capital company Octopus Ventures in mid-November 2019. It aims to measure the success of UK universities in converting reseach into successful companies (spinouts). It presents an 'entrepreneurial impact ranking' to index the universities which are "leading the way in creating and commercialising spinouts". Data used for the ranking is from the annual HE-BCI review, aggregated over a 9-year timespan. 

Spinouts UK quarterly (June 2019)

This edition of Spinouts UK looks at the ways in which universities can make the most of their environment: a hot-topic as the KEF and local industrial strategies dominate policy conversations in the sector, both seeking to understand and exploit the dynamics of research, business and locality. Spotlights on Swansea and the MIRA project in the Midlands are both great examples of playing to local strengths.

University spinouts - an imperfect ecosystem (April 2018)

PraxisAuril members, Anderson Law, commissioned Linstock Communications for this in-depth look at the way in which private and public funding is affecting the success of UK spinouts. It is a timley and topical report in the context of the UK's Industrial Strategy and the emphasis put on spin-outs in much of the debate around knowlege exchange.
