SHEDTalk with Lucy Findlay MBE, Social Enterprise Mark

Wednesday 24th March 11.00 - 12.00  SHEDTalk with guest speaker Lucy Findlay MBE, Social Enterprise Mark   Lucy Findlay MBE is the founding Managing Director of Social Enterprise Mark CIC – the only UK and international body to independently prove when a business or organisation puts profit towards social or environmental good. Lucy was awarded an MBE in the 2019 New Year's Honours and is publicly recognised on the WISE100 index of the most inspiring and influential women in social enterprise.   Sean and Lucy will discuss the place of universities as social enterprises and how that fits with knowledge exchange activities in terms of local, civic and business engagement for staff and students, the social and environmental impact they make, and how that is assessed: linking to sector themes around the KE Concordat and Civic University Agreements in particular. They will also talk about social enterprise as a model in new business creation for academic spin-outs and student start-ups.   Social Enterprise Mark is an award-winning international social enterprise accreditation body, which has over ten years’ experience of providing clear standards for the social enterprise sector, defining what is means to be a genuine social enterprise. The Social Enterprise Mark team has led the way in formalising an agreed definition of what constitutes genuine social enterprise, the essence of which has been adopted in several other countries. For more information visit https://www.socialenterprisemark.org.uk/.     This event is free to attend for all members.
