The University of Strathclyde is a leading international technological university, focused on delivering excellent teaching and world-class research, and known for forging strong collaborative links with industry, government, business and the third sector.

At Strathclyde we have created a vibrant innovation ecosystem that is recognised nationally and internationally and is focused around two innovation districts (Glasgow City Innovation District and Advanced Manufacturing Innovation District) aimed at supporting sustainable economic growth and delivering wider societal benefit.

Innovation and Industry Engagement (IIE) is a Directorate within the Office of the Chief Commercial Officer. The Directorate is responsible for delivering a step change in Strathclyde’s already intensive programmes of innovation, enterprise support, investment and industrial collaboration.

IIE staff work closely with staff from across the University to identify, develop, protect, publicise and commercialise intellectual property (IP) arising from their world-leading research and to licence these technologies to commercial third parties or to create new spinout and start-up companies.  The University will invest up to £7.5m over the next 5 years in the University’s portfolio and has recently launch sector leading entrepreneurship strategy-Strathclyde Inspire.

In addition to this investment capability, the University operates the Strathclyde Inspire Entrepreneurs Fund (SIEF) which enables supporters of the University to offer up capital of up to £100k per company for the creation, development and early stage growth of innovative ventures from University staff, students and alumni.

The post-holder will report to the Head of Investment.
