Salary: £39,748 - £44,166 per annum (dependent on skills and experience)

We now have an excellent opportunity for a hardworking Innovation Manager to join the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) and be responsible for delivering the commercialisation of scientific and engineering breakthroughs from the laboratories at STFC. You will have a passion for research and innovation, have the ability to make things happen and take the lead in finding and crafting commercialisation deals.

You will lead on the management of a portfolio of projects across both physical and life sciences. You will drive each part of the commercialisation process from identification of opportunities through to licence or spinout. You will seek out new technologies from within STFC. Nurture the technology by completing commercial assessments, securing development funding, developing business plans for technology exploitation, and leading on licensing the innovation

You will need to build good relationships across UKRI-STFC, academia, industry and investors, and be able to negotiate licence deals and secure investment.

You will play a key part in delivering UKRI-STFC’s innovation and impact agenda and will work as part of our well-established Innovation Team.

About You

We are looking for an individual with a passion for science and its commercialisation. You will have a strong technical background, will have worked in delivery of technology commercialisation and have a results-oriented mind-set and commercial outlook. You will have the ability to easily build relationships to establish industry-academia collaborations and grow your network. You will also be comfortable producing business plans and have knowledge of IPR that may be generated by a large research laboratory.
