Job summary

Would you like to work alongside Imperial’s experienced Industry Partnerships and Commercialisation professionals on promoting College’s capabilities and licensing portfolio and securing collaborative research and commercialisation income?

The internship offers a unique and exciting opportunity for two highly motivated applicants to gain experience supporting the development of research collaborations with industry and the commercialisation of Imperial’s discoveries.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Assisting the development of commercialisation plans, due diligence, patenting, licensing deals 
  • Assisting with intellectual property searches and filing patents
  • Relationship and network building
  • Mapping College research capabilities specific to industry partners’ areas of research interests
  • Technology scouting
  • Marketing, communications and event planning around University-Industry partnerships and innovation

Essential requirements

We are looking for applicants with passion for understanding the industry-academia collaborations and commercialisation.

To take advantage of the internship, ideally you will be a quick learner used to working independently and dealing with unforeseen problems or circumstances in a proactive and methodical manner. You will also need to be able to plan and progress work activities, using initiative and judgement.

Successful applicants should have or be about to complete a postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline and experience of science/engineering commercialisation would be a benefit. You should also demonstrate a passion for enterprise, ideally also possessing some experience of related activities.

You will work with a wide range of people, so good interpersonal and relationship management skills, as well as the ability to build and maintain good working relationships are essential in this role.
