Join the University of Birmingham in Shaping the Future of Research Support
For over a century, the University of Birmingham has been at the forefront of pursuing and sharing knowledge through world-leading research. Now, as we embark on an exciting journey to build on the success of REF2021, we're seeking visionary leaders to join us in transforming research performance across awards, outputs, income, and impact. At the heart of this ambition lies the Research Strategy & Services Division (RSSD), a pioneering department established to provide a transformative and sector-leading approach to research strategy and support.

Role Overview
As the Head of Research Support, you'll play a pivotal role in driving this transformation. Reporting to the Deputy Director, RSSD, you'll lead one of our three College Hub Research Support teams, overseeing all aspects of pre-award research support, grants setup, and contracts. Collaborating closely with colleagues from the wider RSSD and the Colleges, you will develop and lead research support teams to provide comprehensive support for researchers, facilitating their success across all stages of the research journey.

You will have extensive experience of drafting and reviewing complex research agreements with a strong knowledge of, and interest in, national and international research policy and operations. In addition, you will have significant experience of providing senior practitioner support to complex issues relating to research contracts, compliance with funders terms, trusted research, research governance, research culture, and being recognised as a trusted expert and developing individuals and teams to do the same.

This is an exciting time to join this newly established division to lead on the research support of a major hub within the University.
