Commercialisation Associate (New Opportunities)

2 roles available: one working with the Life Sciences team, and one with the Physical Sciences team

Background:

Sitting at the heart of Europe’s most successful technology cluster, Cambridge Enterprise is part of the University of Cambridge, and supports academics, researchers, staff and students in achieving knowledge transfer and research impact.  We do this by helping innovators, experts and entrepreneurs use commercial avenues to develop their ideas and expertise for the benefit of society, the economy, themselves and the University.

Our Commercialisation Associates play key roles in helping unearth researchers’ new ideas, technologies and inventions.

The role:

These are two new and exciting roles at Cambridge Enterprise that will be working with the Life and Physical Sciences Technology Transfer Teams. Your role will be to work across the university to generate new commercialisation opportunities for the Cambridge Enterprise (CE) team. You will promote CE’s services and educate researchers on the value of their research and the impact that it could have if commercialised.

You will be responsible for developing and implementing appropriate ongoing marketing and training campaigns and you will be supported by your Heads of Team and teams more broadly.  You will find the role exciting, stimulating and rewarding as you play your part in uncovering and liberating great innovation that is ripe for commercialisation.

Your skills:

You will be scientifically literate, a fantastic persuasive communicator and creative.  You will be well versed in the UK’s impact agenda, be knowledgeable about the funding environment and well-aware of researchers’ day-to-day motivations.  You will be able to develop and deliver marketing campaigns that are effective in engaging with the university’s research community.

You will likely have a PhD, be highly organised, self-motivated but a skilful team player.  You may have some experience in marketing and some experience in an outward facing commercial science environment.

Benefits:

Continuous development is key to the role. You will have on-the-job mentoring by some of the most experienced TT professionals in the world, as well as access to a raft of training courses including the UK TT industry’s ‘gold standard’ courses run by PraxisAuril.

Working for a subsidiary of the University of Cambridge, you will be offered a competitive salary with performance related pay, generous holiday, a University pension and a flexible working environment.

The University of Cambridge and Cambridge Enterprise value diversity and are committed to equality of opportunity.
