Business Engagement Associate

The role

The Enterprise Services Team at the University of Bristol encompasses Bristol’s leading hub for innovation, the Engine Shed, the world’s number 1 University Incubator, SETsquared Bristol and the UK’s leading pre-incubator for quantum technologies, QTEC. The team have a wide range of business links, from managing relationships with the local start-up community and working with industry and professional services businesses to support the creation of new partnerships to support the wider enterprise eco-system. 

The Business Engagement Associate will be a key part of the team, helping to foster a culture of co-production and collaboration between the University and external partners.

What will you be doing?

This is a highly collaborative role. The Business Engagement Associate will enrich and build business partnerships with the aim of creating more impact and wider benefit, with the main focus placed on newly launched QUEST programme (Quantum, Engineering and Scientific Technologies Pre-Incubator). Working with the Enterprise Services staff and other relevant colleagues at University of Bristol, the Business Engagement Associate will be responsible for identifying potential sources of further funding for collaborative projects and make a key contribution to developing and implementing the strategy in this area, identifying where Enterprise Services can most significantly and effectively contribute to business.

We are seeking someone who can evidence they have skills in:

  • Relationship Management - evidence of influencing stakeholders and managing relationships effectively to build long term strategic relationships.
  • Strategy Planning -  ability to identify industry needs and trends, and opportunities for knowledge exchange.
  • Communication and Influencing – the ability to explain complex issues in a way that is easy to understand. Deliver difficult messages with clarity and sensitivity, being persuasive when required.
  • Team building – able to show clear evidence of building and maintaining a strong network of colleagues and contacts to achieve progress on shared objectives.

Contract type: Fixed Term until 30/06/2022 (may be extended if additional funding is secured)
