Administrator (DIGIT Lab)

This full-time post is available immediately on a fixed term basis until 28 February 2026. This role offers the opportunity for remote working.

Summary of the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join a team in a flagship University of Exeter research centre based in London. The role will provide administrative support to the research programme of DIGIT Lab (www.digit.ac.uk), an EPSRC Next Stage Digital Economy Research Centre that works with Large Established Organizations (LEOs) reimagine them for the digital age and help them to understand barriers to productivity improvements through digital transformation using responsible and sustainable approaches to innovation. The administrator will play an important role in the success of DIGIT Lab, which is held at INDEX (Initiative in Digital Economy Exeter) in the University of Exeter Business School.

The DIGIT Lab Centre is looking for a dynamic and engaging administrator with ambition that equals that of the DIGIT Lab team. In turn, the Centre will encourage the post holder to develop and enhance their role and career by supporting them with accessing opportunities through DIGIT Lab, INDEX, IIB, the Business School and the University.

The post holder will manage all administrative aspects of the DIGIT Lab Centre, acting as point of contact for academic staff, our partners, University central services and other college administrative staff. They will provide organisational and administrative support to the DIGIT Lab’s Principal Investigator, management team and centre manager. The post holder will have excellent understanding of operational administration. They will be proactive and able to work independently when required. The post requires interaction with internal and external audiences. This will require the postholder to follow and use University policies, procedures and systems as well as EPSRC funding requirements. The post holder will develop and manage systems to ensure that work is successfully completed to deadline. The role requires:

  • Meeting management and minute taking.
  • Updating the website, writing content where appropriate, and administering DIGIT Lab’s social media channels to disseminate research outputs and impact.
  • The ability to set up and oversee virtual and face-to-face workshops, seminars and events using event management and marketing services/technology (Eventbrite, Mailchimp, Team/Zoom video conferencing)
  • Purchasing of goods, expense claims, answering queries and managing contacts.
  • Preparation of reports, supporting with evaluation and the tracking and reporting on milestones.
  • Providing administrative support for recruitment.
  • Excellent customer service and ability to communicate with DIGIT Lab’s stakeholders.

The post holder will also work with relevant teams and colleagues in IIB and research services to provide an excellent level of administrative support to the DIGIT Lab.
