Conference 2021: Review, Regroup, Revolution
KE making a difference in a post-pandemic world
Our three-day annual conference this year takes us on a journey from the challenges – and triumphs! – of the past year to a future where KE matters more than ever. Each day will bring you the big picture alongside sessions that zoom in on detail through case-studies, skills analysis, and stakeholder interactions.
Sessions and speakers to be announced soon. Booking available from the 8th March.
Tuesday 8th: Review (What a difference a year makes)
Day one offers a chance to take stock of the changes we’ve had to make around the how, where and why of KE during the pandemic year. Responding to Covid-19 put KE firmly in the spotlight as never before, whilst we all had to adapt to new ways of working that turned business-models upside down and brought down geographical barriers. Sessions will include a dig into KEF Metrics, a UK devolved nations roundtable and demonstration of how KE has been deployed to boost business resilience.
Wednesday 9th: Regroup (KE matters more than ever)
Day two sets up our launch pad for the future. We’ve seen how KE can operate in a crisis but we can’t work at crisis pace for ever, so what elements do we want to retain? This day is about assessing the current state of play and setting the scene for our way forward. Sessions will include a look at the KE Concordat as a framework for evaluation, new cultural models for KE, a revitalised KE skills framework, and a discussion of where Brexit leave UK KE practitioners and partners.
Thursday 10th: Revolution (Moving on up)
Day three focuses on where we go from here. How do we create our own ‘new normal’ for future KE that plays a part in addressing urgent challenges such as climate change? How have public and business expectations of KE changed during 2020 and what opportunities does that provide? Sessions will involve a business panel to debate the future of the knowledge-based economy, a discussion on diversity in KE, and we’ll go global with KE partners from around the world.
Due to the ongoing situation and changes surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, it has been agreed by PraxisAuril Board and Executive Team that we will not hold face-to-face events until 2022. We will be holding the 2021 Annual Conference entirely digitally from the 8th – 10th June. The next face-to-face Annual Conference will be held at the Brighton Centre on the 6-8 June 2022.
Our biggest and most connected events
PraxisAuril conferences are the biggest knowledge exchange events outside of the US. Whether you are in knowledge exchange, technology transfer, business development, contracts, licensing or intellectual property, you will find the content and contacts you need to power your collaborations.
There are so many ways to get involved, from member-led breakout sessions, Knowledge Exchange Award submissions and sponsorship/exhibition opportunities.
“Colleagues from The University of Reading’s Knowledge Transfer Centre actively participated in the Praxis AURIL Digital Celebration in December 2020. Our Business Relationship Manager team presented four times, from developing our TVAI Thames Valley AI Network, to sharing experience of KTP, developing entrepreneurial skills through YES, and even coordinating collaborations in football research! The event was enthusiastically and professionally managed and without doubt we benefited from taking part. Along the way, we picked up hints & tips from other KE professionals and made some extremely useful connections as a direct result of the talks we gave. We’ll be back again in 2021 for sure!”
- Simon Cutler, University of Reading
"The KEMatters event was a great opportunity to network, catch up with colleagues and hear some fantastic speakers.
Although I missed seeing people face to face as the conference was online, it meant I could catch up on sessions I missed, by watching the recordings.
This was a real advantage and meant I didn’t have to miss out on any sessions."
- Amanda Selvaratnam, University of York
Organised with our volunteer Conference Programme Committee of 17 Knowledge Exchange practitioners, the topics, sessions and speakers of the 2019 PraxisAuril Conference covered four main themes:
- Global KE
- New modes of external engagement
- Supporting impact and knowledge exchange
- Professional development for KE/TT staff
The KE Awards celebrate the contribution of KE professionals in enabling and facilitating the societal and economic impact of research. Sponsored by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), a new body creating the best possible environment for research and innovation to flourish, the 2019 KE Awards recognised and celebrated the people behind the best KE achievements. The KE Awards provide recognition nationally, and beyond, for the exceptional work that is taking place across the sector. Winning, or being shortlisted for an award can enhance your reputation, and that of your team and your institution. The awards could increase the visibility of your work, help a secure new business and also be used by your institution as future case studies.
