Intellectual Property Office

The Intellectual Property Office (IPO) is the official UK government department responsible for UK intellectual property (IP) policy (such as copyright policy), granting UK IP rights (patents, designs and trade marks), improving IP awareness and education, and supporting IP enforcement.

The IPO aims to ensure that the UK IP system continues to support UK innovation and creativity, especially within the knowledge exchange community.  To do this we are continuing to develop resources to support IP management, collaboration and commercialisation.

Intellectual Property Office is an operating name of the Patent Office.
