PraxisAuril South West and Wales Regional Network Meeting

The PraxisAuril South West and Wales regional network meeting will be hosted by Cardiff University on Wednesday 5 February 2020, 1:00 – 5.00pm. Agenda as follows: Lunch- 1pm- 2 pm ‘Best practice in Technology Transfer’ session Our researchers here at Cardiff are working across disciplines to tackle major challenges facing society, the economy and our environment. Come along to this workshop to find out how Cardiff University professional services departments support academics with protecting their research, commercialising their research outcomes and providing expert advice on wider research activities. 2 pm - 2.10 pm: Introduction to the afternoon 2.10 pm - 2.30 pm: Funding and investment A representative from the Development bank of Wales will discuss the work they do. The Development Bank of Wales was set up by the Welsh Government to support the economy of Wales by making it easier for businesses to get the finance needed to start up, strengthen and grow. 2.30 pm – 3 pm: Office structures and how we work- Cardiff University Rhian North, TTO at Cardiff University will be talking about our team structure and how we work with other teams within research and innovation services and the wider University. 3 pm - 3.15 pm- Refreshments/networking break 3.15 pm - 3.45 pm- Innovation Central: The future direction of Research Innovation Sally O’Connor (SPARK Project manager) will be discussing our innovation central building and our vision for how this will scope us working more collaboratively within cross disciplinary research here within Cardiff University and external organisations for the future of research innovation 3.45pm - 4.15 pm - Raising the profile and significance of commercialising social sciences research Introduction to ASPECT; what it is and how the Social Sciences can get involved. Additional opportunities for commercialisation within Social Sciences and how to further build engagement between academics, business and industry. 4.15 pm – 5 pm – Close/Further networking opportunities This meeting is a free of charge PraxisAuril member-only event.
