Spinouts UK Quarterly: Improving the commercialisation process

Improving the commercialisation process

The editorial in our latest Quarterly Journal notes the development of the knowledge exchange framework (KEF), and the discussions that PraxisAuril and others are having to ensure that the resulting system provides a real boost for the commercialisation of university research.  We also look at how the ICURe programme, which tackles some of the barriers to getting UK university research from the lab and into the commercial marketplace, is being rolled out across the UK - this is one programme which recognises the amount of effort and resource needed to create spinout companies, and helps to make the process more effective..

The Quarterly Journal  lists twenty spinouts new to our database (five within 2018), two exits (an IPO and a trade sale) plus the announcement of a future IPO, and 28 recent investments, with brief descriptions.

Our 'Spotlight' feature this Quarter covers Newcastle University, and its approach to spinning out new companies.
