Science & Innovation Network Roadshow: Research & Innovation in China

These Roadshows are for University Directors of Research & Innovation, Academics, Businesses and scalable start-ups, looking to find out more about conducting collaborative R&D and working with China, run  by the China-Britain Business Council.

China has doubled its R&D spending since 2010, and forecast to the world’s largest spender on R&D by 2022. It is pouring funding into supporting ‘mass innovation and entrepreneurship’ under its 13th Five Year Plan. Recent years have shown marked interest from China to collaborate with other countries on the development of early stage tech and commercialisation of research and this trend is expected to grow and mature over the coming years.

What makes China a science superpower? What are the benefits of conducting collaborative R&D with China? How can innovative businesses form partnerships and successfully sell products in China or jointly develop solutions for the China market as well as third party markets? And how far has China come in intellectual property protection?

Roadshow events in London, Bristol, Manchester and Edinburgh will address these questions and more:

  • The science and innovation landscape in China

  • Opportunities in the energy, digital economy, agri-tech and future manufacturing sectors

  • Managing risk in partnerships with China

  • Newton Fund programmes in China

  • What the Science and Innovation Network China (SIN China) does and how we can help you

  • Support available for UK academics and companies
