Event Report: Intellectual property management workshop - Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

The workshop, delivered at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals was interactive and included a mix of elements to enhance and reinforce the learning experience (lecture, discussion and group work - case study).  Questions and discussions were lively and the course director enjoyed the opportunity to work with an enthusiastic and interested group of delegates.

Delegates’ stated their aims for attending the workshop as improving knowledge and skills in IP assessment, management and processes; understanding more about proof of concept; getting a better insight into TT processes;familarisation with real life examples.  As a result of the workshop, 90% of delegates said that their awareness of the significance of managing IP had improved.

The PraxisUnico training was well received with all but one delegate reporting that their objectives in attending the course had been met, and for the individual for whom objectives had not been met this was due to lack of time to pursue topics at a more detailed level.  Indeed, the majority of delegates would have welcomed a longer course and many would have liked the ability to probe subject matter in more depth.  Further training needs identified by delegates include: IP valuation; licensing; marketing; negotiation; business development; new venture creation.
