PraxisUnico’s Top 10 Networking Tips

Conference is a great opportunity to network and meet new people, which is why we’ve built in plenty of breaks and activities designed to help you make the most of the networking opportunities. So with this in mind the PraxisUnico team have put their heads together and shared some of their favourite networking hints and tips below.

Take Notes

Take notes after your conversation or immediately after the event. This will help you to be more specific in your follow-up.

Research

If you have key contacts you are wanting to meet or impress, do some research, learn the basics about them and look for common connections.

Ask Great Questions

Ask genuine and thoughtful questions, this can help you plan and produce a more engaging follow-up.

Don’t Keep It Work Related

Once you’ve had a great conversation about your work and sector, change it up and distinguish yourself to others by asking about their hobbies or interests outside of the office. You might have other things in common that can build a stronger connection.

Be Approachable

Don’t hide in the corner or be on your phone. Take a deep breath, smile and stand where people can see you.

Resist The Urge To Arrive Late

Showing up early at a networking event is a much better than getting there late. It's calmer and quieter, people won't have settled into groups yet. It's also easier to find other people who don't have conversation partners yet.

Don’t Be Afraid To Join In

There is nothing wrong with joining a conversation and waiting for a break to introduce yourself. The people who are already speaking will enjoy the interruption to give them a chance to meet someone new.

Be A Connector

Introduce your new connection to others, help them benefit more out of attending the networking event. This will make you look more trustworthy and genuine… and you’ll feel great!

Be Engaged

Keep eye contact with your conversation partner. Nod your head and tilt your body towards them when you’re speaking. These cues go a long way towards building trust.

Remember To Follow Up

If you've had a great exchange, ask the best way to stay in touch. Get in touch and reference something you discussed, so your contact remembers you.

We are excited to have over 320 guests from nine different countries, and more than 19 exhibitors joining us at this year’s conference.
