PraxisAuril: Your KE Community is here for you

I hope that you can spare me 5 minutes between Zoom meetings to read about the work we’ve been doing at PraxisAuril to support you and some new digital initiatives we hope you’ll engage with. Our strategy has always been to help you develop, promote and connect.

PraxisAuril Online community launches today

We’re launching our new Online Community today where, for the first time, you can meet and interact with the entire PraxisAuril community. Members will get a separate email with joining instructions.

As well as the usual discussion forums there is a directory of members to allow you to find and connect with all parts of the PraxisAuril community. I look forward to accepting your connection request. Over time we’ll create areas for special interest groups to come together to have their own discussions and share useful resources.

Please drop by and say hello.

Join us on Tuesday 19 May at 3 pm for a live tutorial of the Online Community. WATCH THE RECORDING

Knowledge Exchange Awards deadline for nominations is Friday

Our KE Awards are a chance to celebrate the excellent work that our community undertakes. Nominations close this Friday. Please take the time to highlight your successes by completing a nomination. The deadline for submissions is this Friday so there is still time.

We’ll be having a virtual award ceremony this year and we hope you’ll be able to join us then and celebrate with the winners. Black ties and ballgowns are optional.

KE&Coffee sessions to discuss the latest policy developments start next week

Tamsin and I will be hosting weekly KE&Coffee sessions. We’ll be looking at the latest policy developments and publications in KE. We hope to keep these sessions interactive and it will be a chance for Tamsin and me to hear your views.

Our first session, next week, will examine the recently announce KE concordat. Look out for a future notification on how to sign up. Got an idea for future discussions? Let me know by email and we’ll get you involved.

Please also take some time to let us know how you're coping with the COVID-19 situation by completing Tamsin’s survey.

Fortnightly webinars with stakeholders and friends of the KE community - coming soon

We’re planning a fortnightly series of webinars where we hear from stakeholders and friends of the KE community. We want to give you the chance to ask questions and interact with the speakers. If there are people or topics you’d like to see discussed then please drop me a line.

We’ll be announcing the first one soon.

KE training in our new world

PraxisAuril has developed a reputation for excellence in KE training. We are very proud of our courses and the volunteers who help us to deliver them. A face to face interaction has been at the heart of our offering since we started. Peer to peer learning is just as important to our delegates as learning from our practitioner trainers.

The current COVID-19 situation has forced us to postpone several courses with the hope that we can resume delivery later in the year. As a result of this, I have been talking to our professional development committee about how we can continue to deliver our training in the future with the likelihood of social distancing measures still being in place.

We have all had to quickly come to terms with virtual meetings, coffee breaks and pub visits. Online learning is an exciting opportunity to take a fresh look at what could work for our community. A key guiding principle for PraxisAuril is being able to deliver a quality training experience for our delegates. As we start to think about different models of delivery, we’ll be looking to gather your views to help us ensure we can continue to meet your needs.

And finally…

I’m a social person. I enjoy meeting people. I relish the opportunity to expand my view of the world through interacting with others. I enjoy laughing with them and hearing their stories. I often seek them out to help me or others who have come to me for help. The highlight of my year is meeting many of you at our annual conference. 43 days ago, according to my lockdown diary, the world changed for me as I’m sure it did for you.

With increasing discussions on what a post lockdown world might look like and what the new “normal” might mean for the economy, universities and businesses, I want to remind you that PraxisAuril will be here to support and help you.

Whilst I no longer have the chance to meet people face to face, I have been introduced to colleagues’ partners, children, dogs and cats through the window of Zoom. For those of you interested, it’s pretty much 50/50 dogs/cats (full disclosure I’m a cat person). I feel a great privilege when you invite me to join you in your home and for that, I want to thank you.

Stay safe and well,
