PraxisAuril Scottish KE Network – 21/1/2020

Attended by >40 Scottish KE Professionals and hosted by Edinburgh Innovations at University of Edinburgh Kings Buildings, the first PraxisAuril KE meeting of 2020 was a great success

A packed agenda covered the latest developments within the University Innovation Fund (UIF), Enterprise, Funding and Metrics and also “How to become a Registered Technology Transfer Practitioner (RTTP)”.

Linda Wallace, UIF Collaboration Manager, outlined how UIF replaced the Knowledge Transfer Grant (KTG) in 2015. UIF promotes collaborative KE actions between Universities aligning broadly to Scottish Government Economic priorities (the 4 I’s) , the Scotland Innovation Action Plan / CanDo agenda and the individual University Outcome agreements.

Keith McDonald, Assistant Director Research & Innovation at Scottish Funding Council spoke of the UIF, the Knowledge Exchange Framework (KEF) and how this may or may not (watch this space!) impact KE activity up north...

Olga Kozlova, Director of Innovation & Industry Engagement at Strathclyde and former director of the CONVERGE Challenge, Scotland national business plan competition spoke of the role of “Enterprise”, the Glasgow Innovation District, the Scottish Entrepreneurial Ecosystem and partners have in driving Scotland economic growth.

Deborah Keogh of Royal Conservatoire of Scotland spoke of their SHIFT summer school, a collaboration between RCS, Glasgow School of Arts and Queen Margaret University (Edinburgh) and its impact on the creative sector and innovative startups.

Janette Wark RTTP, spoke of the importance of “professionalism” and the high standards of KE practitioners across the sector – based on a mix of CPD activity and work place experiences, RTTP recognition is available to all UK based KE staff through PraxisAuril.

In short, a very worthwhile afternoon with like-minded colleagues, an opportunity to share experiences and discuss the challenges present  - I am certainly looking forwards to the Conference in June to find out about #Partnerships , #People , #Place and #Practice
