Applications are invited for this full-time post in Research and Enterprise Services, which is responsible for providing professional services and support for the University’s research and enterprise activities.
The post-holder will be based in the Innovation and Business Partnerships team which leads the enterprise and knowledge exchange profile of the University. The post will lead the delivery of knowledge exchange activities for the humanities and social sciences, including the management of the ASPECT project to promote social science research commercialisation, part of the Research England Connecting Capability Fund.
The work involves:
- Promoting the expertise of social science faculty to external users/organisations in a way which speaks to their business needs. Including the development of new opportunities for impact acceleration and commercial exploitation of social science research.
- Managing the ASPECT project (due to end in March 2021), ensuring project deliverables and reporting requirements are met as well as providing a point for communication and coordination with other ASPECT consortium members.
- Developing and managing long term partnerships with external organisations with a view to maximising the opportunities for students and researchers to benefit.
- Working with Innovation and Business Partnerships and ASPECT colleagues to develop, protect and fully realise the potential of the intellectual assets and intellectual property (IP) they generate.
The University is seeking to appoint an experienced knowledge exchange practitioner who can further enhance Sussex's profile as a leading social science institution.
The ideal candidate will possess first class communication skills, the ability to think strategically and creatively and be a strong team player. They will be able to demonstrate a strong understanding of the role of knowledge exchange in the sector and an understanding of the practical application of social science research.
