Senior Research Manager

Based within the Research and Innovation Directorate of the University of Plymouth, SERIO is a highly regarded applied research unit offering specialist evaluation and research services both regionally and nationally.  We work with public, private and third sector organisations, as well as internally at the University, providing bespoke services tailored to meet client need.

 

By listening closely to clients’ objectives, we make sure that our outputs are robust, accessible and readily utilised, enabling our clients to make informed decisions and develop effective policy and strategy. We work on a diverse portfolio of research and evaluation projects, covering everything from physical activity levels and the use of green space in cities; to research with society's most vulnerable groups; to getting people back into the labour market; and optimizing healthcare services. The team has been highly successful in winning and delivering a wide range of applied research and evaluation, helping partners across the region build a culture of evaluation and learning.

 

Working under the supervision of the Head of Research Impact and Partnership, the Senior Research Manager will manage a portfolio of applied research projects and work with the wider SERIO team, supporting them with projects. You will play a key role in winning and delivering a range of applied research projects. We are looking for a dedicated and ambitious Senior Research Manager to undertake the following:

 

  • Writing proposals and winning new research projects;
  • Managing a range of research assignments across the unit;
  • Managing teams of researchers to deliver work to the full satisfaction of our clients;
  • Take a leading role on business development and support with the running of SERIO
  • Work with colleagues across the Research Impact and Partnership team to deliver the University strategy

 

Flexible working and some travel within the UK will be required on occasion.

This is a full-time position working 37 hours per week on a permanent basis, we are happy to discuss part-time working arrangements.
