Senior Knowledge Exchange Officer : University of Essex

The University of Essex is seeking a committed knowledge exchange professional for the post of Senior Knowledge Exchange Officer (KTP). Based in the Research and Enterprise Office, this post will support the delivery of the Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) portfolio across all academic disciplines and departments. The KTP team form part of the wider Business Engagement team who lead on managing the University’s relationships with industry partners.

The REO delivers services to the University’s academic community to support a range of research, impact and knowledge exchange activities and also contributes to a wide range of business engagement activities and facilitates the delivery of services to business as well as to the wider economic community.

KTP is a UK-wide programme that has been helping businesses for the past 40 years to improve their competitiveness and productivity through the better use of knowledge, technology and skills that reside within the UK Higher Education sector.

The Role

You will be joining the KTP team at an exciting time - Essex is leading the way in this area of business engagement, currently 3rd in the UK for the number of its KTP partnerships. The Senior Knowledge Exchange Officer (KTP) post-holder will take a lead role in delivering the University’s KTP portfolio; contribute to stakeholder management and business engagement; liaise with academic staff across all departments and disciplines; participate in pre-qualification work, bid-writing and costing; and take a lead role in post-award management. The post-holder will be involved in programme management, coordination, and delivery.

The role will therefore require both academic and client-facing liaison, and programme and project management. A full list of duties can be found within the jobpack.

Skills and Qualifications required

To be successful in your application, you will be educated to at least graduate level and will have experience in the following areas: income generation, working with multiple stakeholder collaborations, monitoring and reporting project outcomes and preparing and presenting of proposals.

The ability to interpret research outcomes and manage effective working relationships is essential for this post, along with excellent communication and IT skills.

This full-time post is available on a fixed term basis for two years (until April 2021). It will be based at our Colchester Campus.
