Senior Commercialisation Manager: University of Leeds

The University of Leeds has an extensive patent portfolio of over 400 applications, over 30 active spinout companies and in excess of 150 technology licences.

This challenging role requires an energetic and self-motivated individual to lead a team with responsibility for identifying and assessing early stage commercialisation opportunities arising from our academic research programmes. You will ensure that effective commercial due diligence is undertaken on disclosed opportunities, guide the Intellectual Property development strategy, assist in securing early stage funding to undertake market appraisals and technical development and ensure effective handover of opportunities to licensing and venture colleagues for deal completion. 

With experience in technology-related business development plus a working knowledge of innovation, you will have strong evaluation, planning and process management skills. The ability to effectively engage and influence internal and external stakeholders is essential as is acting as a key source of expertise and leading on decisions. You will have a background in the engineering or informatics or physical sciences sectors with experience of creating an effective environment for sourcing, appraising and managing early stage commercialisation opportunities.
