As part of our objective to become the world’s most effective University Technology Transfer organisation, we are looking to appoint a talented Business Development & Investment Manager to complement our Life Science & Bio-Environment operations team.

 

We are searching for a dynamic entrepreneurial Senior BD&I Manager to develop Business Plans for both licensing opportunities and new spin out companies with the field of Life Science.

In doing so, the successful candidate will work on the valuation, structuring, term development and execution of licensing transactions and spinout investment deals; with the ultimate aim being to drive commercial transactions.  To this end, a key element to the role is developing and maintaining relationships with key commercial partners and investor groups.

 

Reporting to the BD&I Director, this role is also required to continually maintain/update relevant databases of UK and international sources of investment finance as well as developing strong relationships with both inventors and founders to ensure opportunities are “deal-ready”.

 

The successful candidate must possess a strong background within the field of Life Science, be experienced in deal making and have the ability to create value from innovation and intellectual property.  They will also have proven experience working within a target driven business environment.

 

The BD&I group has the responsibility for quantifying the potential value of an opportunity and defining optimal deal structure and terms with support from the UoMIF Legal and Financial teams.

 

When required upon, the BD&I Managers within the relevant fields are expected to assist the UoMIF’s: Operations, Finance, Legal  & Portfolio Management, Information & Digital Marketing groups by providing market and customer intelligence supporting business case development and the on-going management of the asset portfolio.

 

Candidates applying for this role will possess a degree or similar level 6 qualification (England, Wales and N.Ireland Qualification levels) or equivalent is essential for this role.  A post graduate qualification in a business-related discipline would be advantageous.
