Research and Innovation Services (RIS) supports academic and research staff in fulfilling their research and enterprise objectives by providing expert advice and assistance in research funding, bid support and management, collaborations with industry and other strategic partners, as well as the protection and commercialisation of intellectual property. 

We are now looking to recruit an experienced and highly motivated Research Integrity Officer (Policy and Ethics) to join the Research Integrity and Governance (RIG) Team. The RIG Team sits within RIS and provides core support and expertise for research integrity, research ethics and governance policies. Further, the Team is responsible for giving advice and expertise to researchers on all aspects of clinical research governance and other regulatory compliance relevant to research.

In this role, you will advise staff and students in relation to research ethics and governance, and help to manage the University’s ethics process including via the University’s platform ERGO II (Ethics and Research Governance Online).  You will support the development of related policies and procedures, as well as information resources and training to ensure best practice and compliance with the University’s legal and regulatory obligations in the research domain. Further, you will support the University Research Committees and be the key individual in understanding and helping to explain our research misconduct procedures, as well as managing end-to-end research misconduct investigations. 

You will have detailed knowledge of research integrity and governance issues and of the ethical and regulatory approvals applicable to research. You will also have a good understanding of research misconduct and integrity policies, along with the relevant processes needed to ensure compliance with relevant standards. Experience in working within the Higher Education sector is desirable, along with knowledge of current funder requirements and governance required to satisfy these requirements.

You will have excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to multi-task and work well as part of a busy team. You will be able to work constructively with senior colleagues across academia and professional services, completing tasks to a high standard and in a timely manner. You will be a self-starter and enjoy the challenge of making things happen in a fast-moving environment demonstrating planning and problem-solving skills.
