Research and Innovation Services (R&IS) support academic and research staff fulfil their research and enterprise objectives by providing expert advice and assistance in research funding, bid support and management, collaborations with industry and other strategic partners, as well as the protection and commercialisation of intellectual property. 

We are now looking to recruit an experienced and highly motivated Research Integrity (Clinical Governance and Ethics) Officer to join the Research Integrity and Governance (RIG) Team. The RIG Team sits within RIS and provides core support for research integrity, ethics and research and enterprise policies. Further, the Team is responsible for giving advice and expertise to researchers on all aspects of clinical research governance and other regulatory compliance relevant to research.

In this role, you will advise staff and students in relation to research in the NHS, including Sponsorship review and authorisation of forms on the UK Integrated Research Approval System (IRAS). You will also support the development of related policies and procedures, as well as information resources and training to ensure best practice. Further, you will monitor clinical trials sponsored by the University to ensure they comply with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) regulations and guidance, as well as help manage the University’s Ethics and Governance Online platform (ERGO II). 

You will have detailed knowledge of research integrity and governance issues in a higher education environment and of the ethical and regulatory approvals applicable to clinical research. You will have excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to multi-task and work well as part of a busy team. You will be a self-starter and enjoy the challenge of making things happen in a fast-moving environment demonstrating planning and problem-solving skills. 

Experience in working within the Higher Education sector and/or or Health (within the NHS or commercial health research) sector is desirable, together with a good understanding and knowledge of GCP and governance needed to ensure compliance with its standards.
