Research and Innovation (R&I) consists of teams of specialist advisors dedicated to maximising the University's research income, identifying and nurturing impact and facilitating interactions with external organisations to contribute to the delivery of the University’s founding aim of being “open to all and dedicated to the pursuit of truth in the service of others”.  R&I are the first point of contact for researchers and business, facilitating access to the University's expertise and working closely with colleagues in the University's Schools.

The Impact Manager will lead on developing and delivering the University of Aberdeen’s strategy for research impact including REF impact.  The post is located within the Impact and Knowledge Exchange team in Research & Innovation, reporting to the Commercialisation Manager.  The post holder will work closely with colleagues in Schools and other professional services sections, in particular with the Research Policy and Strategy team of Research & Innovation.

You will have a good first degree and significant experience of working in a role supporting the delivery of impact from research.  You will be enthusiastic and knowledgeable about impact with a good understanding of the impact agenda and REF impact.  You will be an excellent communicator with the ability to build good working relationships within and outside of the University.  You will be able to work flexibly and independently to deadlines and will be able to encourage and enthuse others.  You will have a good knowledge of the drivers and barriers to delivering impact.  You will be adept at building excellent working relationships with a variety of individuals.


Salary will be at the appropriate point on the Grade 7 salary scale and negotiable with placement according to qualifications and experience.

Any appointment will be made subject to satisfactory references and a 12 month probation period.
