Regional Economic Development Manager

Are you looking for a challenging role leading the development and delivery of the University’s pipeline of strategic regional innovation projects, to work with regional businesses, and management of relationships with key regional partners? 

We have an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about regional economic development to work in our Research, Partnerships and Innovation (RPI) department. Utilising their skill set and positive attitude this person will maximise the University's socio-economic impact in South Yorkshire, adding value to the institution by improving our research standing, student experience, and civic impact. 

This post will support the Assistant Director & Head of Regional Engagement and other staff who are working with partners to play a leading role in the region, including in its economy, the health and wellbeing of its people and its environment as well as cultural richness and diversity https://www.sheffield.ac.uk/city-region. More specifically you will be responsible for: 

  • Leading the development of, and delivery of, a University pipeline of strategic regional economic development projects, coordinating and contributing to the submission of complex and high value place-based funding bids to enable delivery. 
  • Leading the implementation of the University’s regional business engagement provision, including Innovation Network: South Yorkshire, a range of business support programmes and the Kroto Innovation Centre.
  • Leadership of key relationships with regional partners including, but not limited to, South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority, Local Authorities, UK Government departments and regional Chambers of Commerce.
