The Public Engagement with Research Manager will lead the Public Engagement with Research Unit (PERU), joining an existing, highly-motivated team to play a key role in the Unit. The postholder will ensure close alignment of PERU activities with the University of Aberdeen’s research, impact and engagement strategies, and with the changing landscape for research, impact and knowledge exchange. The post is located within the Impact and Knowledge Exchange team in R&I, reporting to the Commercialisation Manager. The postholder will work closely with colleagues in other professional services sections, in particular with External Relations.
You will have a good first degree and significant experience of working in a public engagement with research role. You will be enthusiastic and knowledgeable about public engagement with a good understanding of its place in the development of impact from research, and of the impact agenda. You will be an excellent communicator with the ability to build good working relationships within and outside of the University. You will be able to work flexibly and independently and to encourage and enthuse others. You will have a good knowledge of the drivers and barriers to undertaking public engagement.
Salary will be at the appropriate point on the Grade 7 salary scale (£40,792 per annum).
Any appointment will be made subject to satisfactory references and a 12 month probation period.
