Knowledge for Business (K4B) is an exciting new Programme designed to provide 6-month, company-based, internship projects for female STEM (science, technology, engineering & math's) graduates from the University. Each internship involves the delivery of an innovation project, co-supervised by academic and company supervisors, to the commercial benefit of the company partner, i.e. new product or service development.
Main duties & responsibilities
You will support the Programme Director in ensuring that the K4B Programme is managed and delivered effectively. This will involve working closely with our internal networks of Business Development and academic staff. You will ensure new collaborations meet the entry requirements of the programme and will entail liaising with a variety of internal departments as well as solving operational problems as they arise.
You will manage the Programme and support academic staff responsible for delivering projects by arranging and leading local management committee meetings, providing feedback on operational matters and preparing reports as required. You will be required to collaborate with University of Hertfordshire Marketing officers to implement sector specific marketing campaigns and you will need to manage the procurement process for specific projects, ensuring all University processes are adhered to in a timely manner.
Skills and experience needed
You will need fluency with Microsoft Office Suite, i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project and Outlook and the effective use of web technology for both research and collaboration. Experience of managing projects with multiple stakeholder will also be required. You will have good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate well at all levels, both verbally and by email. You will need experience of organising and chairing meetings. The ability to organise schedules and prioritise tasks and lead a multi-faceted project and delegate tasks where necessary.
You will be able to work independently and unsupervised – showing your experience of using own initiative, but also working as part of a team. You will be able to work well under pressure and to meet tight deadlines whilst managing parallel demands effectively whilst managing a diverse workload with a flexible approach.
You will have a recognised project management qualification or substantial proven experience and a degree level qualification (preferably in a STEM-related subject) or equivalent experience.
