Post-Award Research Support Officer (2103): Manchester Metropolitan University

The Research and Knowledge Exchange Directorate is seeking to appoint a Research Delivery Support Officer (Post-Award) to join the central Research Delivery Team.

The role

We are currently looking for an experienced, confident and proactive Research Delivery Officer (Post-Award), who will be responsible for the post-award support of a wide range of Research and Knowledge Exchange (RKE) projects across the University. This post has been established in the context of the increasing importance of effective integration of operational support for grant applications, award, delivery and reporting.

The post holder will work with a team of colleagues to deliver a high quality post-award support service to academic and professional support service colleagues engaged in the delivery of research and knowledge exchange projects. They will act as the main point of contact for all RKE project delivery related queries and requests and will support a large portfolio of projects, involving multiple internal and external partners and operating to strict funder regulations with regard to interim and final claims and financial management

Ideal Candidate

This opportunity would suit a pro-active candidate with, good organisational and analytical skills, experience in research finance support, demonstrable understanding of the UK funding landscape and knowledge of the broad operational activities that underpin successful project delivery. The successful candidate will be expected to develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of funders’ operational and financial reporting procedures and ensure wide communication of any changes to relevant academic colleagues and partners.

They will be responsible for the preparation and submission of financial claims and statements to funders for RKE projects in line with funder requirements; supporting internal and external project audits; assist with transfer of awards between Universities and other institutions; advising on university financial policy and procedures and monitoring and managing project budgets.

We are looking for an individual capable of taking the initiative by recognising external factors with implications for RKE projects at Manchester Met and informing and mobilising colleagues across a number of departments to support the seamless delivery of new research and knowledge exchange projects.
