IPR and KE Co-Ordinator

We are looking for an Intellectual Property & Knowledge Exchange Coordinator to join our Knowledge Exchange team. 

 

The Enterprise and Innovation Organisation (EIO) at Coventry University is a newly formed business whose aim is to maximise the movement of knowledge from the University into businesses and communities to help them innovate and become more productive. Person Specification

 

The Intellectual Property & Knowledge Exchange Coordinator works across the Intellectual Property and Knowledge Exchange KE Teams to deliver a quality, customer-focussed service to University staff and external customers and partners. 

 

The role is focused in teams supporting the development of new industry and community focused Research and Development projects and the creation and protection of new ideas and inventions. The role is focused on supporting the protection of new innovations through liaising with patent attorneys, partners and clients, and in supporting the winning and delivery of a range of Knowledge Exchange projects such as KTPs and Industrial funded studentships. 

 

Both the Intellectual Property and Knowledge Exchange teams play a key role in the delivery of Enterprise and Innovation projects across the University Group, and particularly in the delivery of essential KEF (Knowledge Exchange Framework) metrics. These metrics emphasize the strength of Coventry University Group in Enterprise activity and help to build and shape this activity across the sector. 

 

The role is particularly suited to someone looking to develop their knowledge and experience in intellectual property, commercialisation or knowledge exchange within an experienced and supportive team environment.

Key Skills and Experience

 Background knowledge or interest in research and development and/or intellectual property, and a high degree of IT literacy

 Administration experience - working with customer and financial systems, and direct experience of customer interaction

 Well-developed communication ability, particularly related to communicating effectively with industry. 

 Excellent understanding of the meaning of good customer service

 Ability to work effectively as part of a team including the ability to work across organisational boundaries. 

 Excellent planning, project development and self-management skills plus the ability to meet tight deadlines.

 

 

Exemplar responsibilities:

 

Prior knowledge or experience in the management and commercialisation of intellectual property and/or knowledge exchange projects 

Acting as the first point of contact for customer enquiries  

 General administration - including filing, record keeping, data input, database management, internal and external process updating, 

Responsible for maintaining financial records and working closely with the finance department to ensure project funding and overall budgets are spent within the agreed timescales.
