IP Commercialisation Manager: Northumbria University
IP Commercialisation is increasing in Northumbria University and we need to grow our team. We are looking for someone with experience of identifying research with commercial potential; evaluating the Intellectual Property position, supporting patenting where appropriate and structuring development plans to move the research towards commercialisation.
The IP Commercialisation Manager reports directly to the Director of Research and Innovation. Members of the team are required to work collaboratively, demonstrate high levels of client focus along with the ability to innovate, work flexibly as a member of a small team, and in complex situations.
The post-holder will work alongside the existing Northumbria IP Commercialisation Managers in the management and commercialisation of IP created at Northumbria University.
Northumbria University is a partner in the Northern Accelerator CCF programme. This post directly contributes to the University’s involvement in the programme. The post holder will collaborate with academic colleagues to shape opportunities into applications for Feasibility Awards and Proof of Concept Awards.
You will be educated to degree level (or equivalent) preferably in engineering or science-based discipline. You will have experience of business development and in the management and commercialisation of Intellectual Property. With excellent communication and interpersonal skills, you will be comfortable in working with colleagues from all levels and have experience in deal making and negotiation. Experience in raising finance is not essential but would be an advantage. We are a small, flexible and supportive team and are looking for an engaged team member, who is also able to lead their own projects.
