International Risks and Export Control Manager

About the Role

As a senior member of the International Research and Innovation Team, the postholder will be required to support the Head of International Research and Innovation in building strategy and formulating policy and process to underpin Queen Mary’s compliance with Export Control and NSI Act as well as collaborations within the global context. He /she will advise Faculties on export licensing applications and NSI notification and develop University guidance and training concerning risks in international research.

About You

Educated to degree level in Laws or Engineering, ideally with professional legal qualifications, you will have experience in export compliance or contractual roles, including the preparation and submission of export control licence applications and monitoring compliance with licence conditions. You will have the ability in implementing export control policy and process, building communities of practice and sharing experience across researchers and administrators. You will also have dotting line managment repsonsibility to the two Bid and Contracts Managers, providing guidance and advice on general research contract issues and therefore good experience in university research contracts are also essential for this role.

About the School/Department/Institute/Project

The newly created central International Research and Innovation team will manage research and partnership development plus pre and post-award support for EU and international research collaborations across all three Faculties. It aims to provide strategic engagement of international partners and funders externally, deliver competitive and high quality proposals and projects internally, and to ensure compliance with the UK, EU and international regulations and funder requirements.

The post is based at the Dept W Whitechapel Campus in London. It is full time (35 hours per week), permanent appointment.
