Come and join the Industry Partnerships and Commercialisation team and play a key role in helping Imperial’s researchers develop their ideas, technologies and inventions into opportunities that are attractive to industry.

Duties and responsibilities

As a service provider to the Faculty of Engineering supporting academics in their commercialisation activities, your main duties will include:

  • Promoting College’s capabilities and licensing portfolio
  • Securing commercialisation and collaborative research income
  • Assessing research ideas and discoveries, evaluating, and advancing those technologies through to market adoption via collaboration with industry, access to translational funds, licensing, or startup formation

Essential requirements

To be successful in this role you will have significant experience in technology/software licensing in an engineering business environment (e.g. energy, transport, software, electronics etc) or in technology venture capital.  An understanding of the academic environment, and in particular, university funding mechanisms, patenting process, licensing, and other aspects of technology transfer, preferably gained through previous experience of working within HEI or industry is essential.

Strategic and analytical mindset, strong delivery focus, excellent communication skills coupled with an understanding of the academic environment, product innovation and technology commercialisation processes are also essential.
