Duties and Responsibilities

This is an exciting opportunity to join a team dedicated to accelerating the biomedical translation of emerging UCL research and its partner hospitals through novel and creative collaborations and partnerships with industry. 

This is a senior leadership role, suited to candidates with a strong track record of management, leadership, strategy development and implementation gained through experience in industry, academia or within public-private partnerships.

The Head of the TRO Business & Innovation Group (B&IG) will develop and deliver UCL School of Life and Medical Science’s (SLMS) strategic thinking and approach to novel and creative partnerships with industry and the biotech sector. 

The role consists of managing a team of Senior Business & Innovation Managers and Therapeutic Innovation Network Coordinators, with the aim of harnessing existing and directing new interactions aligned to UCL’s therapeutic strengths accelerating their translation towards greater impact and patient benefit.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and overseeing a strategy of linking UCL’s translational science and core strengths to the Healthcare sector.
  • To devise and implement a strategy to grow number and value of industrial partnerships.
  • Manage and coordinate a senior team of highly specialised Business Innovation Managers and Therapeutic Innovation Network Coordinators.

 

Key Requirements

Candidates will have substantial experience of working across the industry/academic interface, including a well-developed knowledge of the drivers for a successful research collaboration and an appreciation of the challenges involved. The successful candidate will possess relevant professional leadership and experience in an influential role.
