The University of Bath is recognised as an excellent research-intensive university. We have a research grant portfolio of around £140M that continues to grow and diversify. Our Research Contracts team is responsible for ensuring that our research contracts are drafted and delivered in a timely fashion meeting highest possible quality standards and with an acceptable and understood level of risk. The team works in a fast-paced environment often having to respond to tight deadlines.
This is where you come in:
As the new Head of Research Contracts, we need you to further develop our capacity to enable continued success. The last few years have seen a period of rapid transformation for the Research & Innovation Services (RIS) team. That process of change is ongoing and this role will be instrumental in ensuring the research contracts team continues to work with internal and external stakeholders for efficient and effective service delivery.
If the vision and ambition of what we are trying to achieve has caught your attention, here is what the continuing task is all about:-
Research Contracts – Responsible for delivery of the service to the highest possible standards, reviewing, drafting and negotiating complex legal and contractual matters, leading the continued development of the team and associated business processes.
Connectivity- Embedding an integrated approach to research contracts support across all areas of the institution. Acting as an evangelist for RIS and influencing key stakeholders.
Operational Leadership - Act as a catalyst for change, articulating the vision and providing leadership through the process.
We are looking for a champion for RIS. Someone with either a professional legal qualification and/or law degree with extensive experience of research contracts in a Higher Education setting together with commercial awareness. In addition, the post holder will need to demonstrate strong leadership skills and the ability to share aptitudes and experience and to act as a role model to a team that deals with a considerable workload.
Finally and most important of all is your attitude, we really do need someone who can get “stuck in” and is comfortable rolling up their sleeves to make things happen.
In return, we offer a salary to attract the best, a great team of people and a gorgeous location in a world heritage city.
The post is full time Grade 9 (£51034 - £59135) and is being offered on a permanent basis.
For an informal discussion about the post please contact Dr Alison Evans (email: firstname.lastname@example.org or telephone 01225 383350)
