The Events & Marketing Coordinator is part of a small team working at the Newton Gateway to Mathematics, which is the impact initiative of the Isaac Newton Institute (INI) based at the University of Cambridge. The Gateway leads on knowledge exchange for INI - making links between mathematicians and those in industry, the public sector and other academic disciplines who use maths.
Newton Gateway activity is integral to INI and the teams work closely together, with INI providing HR and financial administration. The post-holder will support the work of the Newton Gateway, running knowledge exchange programmes and associated events to ensure the successful delivery of the activities associated with the initiative. They are responsible for coordinating development and delivery of programme activities, such as events, marketing communications, contacts and database management, website and digital communications development and assisting with administration of financial aspects, including budgets and e-sales.
In this role, your event development and delivery experience and excellent project coordination skills will enable you ensure the aims and objectives of the Newton Gateway are achieved. With a degree level/Level 6 vocational qualification or equivalent level of practical experience, you will use your interpersonal skills and administrative experience, to effectively and flexibly support the rest of the close-knit Newton Gateway team, ensuring the planned activities run smoothly. You will also engage with a wide range of other people, including senior stakeholders, so you should have versatile communications skills that will enable you to work closely with academics and individuals from government, business and industry, as well as the wider team of operations staff across INI and its initiatives.
Key responsibilities will be to:
- Organise Newton Gateway events such as workshops and training sessions.
- Provide administrative/ secretarial support to the Newton Gateway team.
- Carry out Newton Gateway financial administration.
- Establish and maintain communications with colleagues and representatives at different partner institutions and organisations to facilitate close working relationships including, assisting in the communication of new initiatives to partners and stakeholders as required.
- Undertake publicity activities linked to the Newton Gateway.
- Coordinate and support Newton Gateway related activities.
- Coordinate and oversee administration of the Newton Gateway.
