Research and Innovation Services (R&IS) support academic and research staff fulfil their research and enterprise objectives by providing expert advice and assistance in research funding, bid support and management, collaborations with industry and other strategic partners as well as the protection and commercialisation of intellectual property. 

We are now looking to recruit an experienced and highly motivated Clinical Research Governance Manager to join the Research Integrity and Governance (RIG) Team. The RIG Team sits within RIS and provides core support for research integrity, ethics and research and enterprise policies. Further, this team is responsible for giving advice and expertise to researchers on all aspects of clinical research governance and other regulatory compliance relevant to research.

In this new role, you will maintain oversight of clinical research governance matters, and provide expert advice on regulatory and compliance matters. You will also support the development of related policies and procedures and act as the main liaison with our key NHS partners. Further, you will play a pivotal role in developing an overarching Quality Management System through the implementation and maintenance of a framework of systems and processes to ensure adherence to relevant clinical research governance, policy and regulatory requirements. You will also monitor clinical trials to ensure they comply with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) regulations and guidance, as well as help manage the Ethics and Governance Online platform (ERGO II). 

You will have excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to multi-task and to work well as part of a busy team. You will be a self-starter and enjoy the challenge of making things happen in a fast-moving environment demonstrating planning and problem-solving skills. You will have the ability to meet the challenges of leading an effective clinical research oversight programme demonstrated by a track record of successful implementation and improvement of quality standards.  

Experience in working within the Higher Education sector and/or or Health (within the NHS or commercial health research) sector is essential, together with detailed understanding and knowledge of GCP and the governance need to ensure compliance with its standards.
