Chief Executive: Cambridge Enterprise Ltd

Taking world-class innovation to the heart of society

Cambridge Enterprise helps innovators, experts and entrepreneurs from the University of Cambridge develop their ideas and expertise for the benefit of society, the economy, themselves and the University. More than 125 organisations across the industrial, life sciences, technology and arts and humanities arenas have achieved success and public recognition thanks to the support and guidance of our team of experts, and over the last ten years we have returned more than £125m to the University to fund future academic and research programmes. We have huge ambition to grow and diversify our portfolio further and to support the University’s mission to contribute to society at the highest level. What we do really matters.

This is a truly exciting opportunity to take the helm of one of the world’s highest profile and most respected research commercialisation organisations. As the new Chief Executive, you will hold a wide-ranging and demanding brief which includes:

  • Driving an ambitious strategy to grow and diversify our portfolio, targeting sectors with the greatest scope for societal impact and commercial return
  • Leading a world-class team whose expertise and experience spans academic consultancy, IP development and commercialisation, licensing, and spinouts
  • Cementing our position within the University’s academic and commercial circles, the Cambridge Cluster (aka Silicon Fen), and with other important industry, investment and research partners across the UK and globally

As a credible candidate you will demonstrate a strong track record of leadership in a relevant organisation, ideally but not exclusively with a focus on the Life Sciences and/or Technology sectors, and of working at the heart of a complex ecosystem. You will have a strong and demonstrable commitment to ED&I, and be used to engaging stakeholders with diverse backgrounds and agendas. You will bring fresh thinking, ambition and a deep-rooted belief in the work of Cambridge Enterprise, as well as the reputation, confidence and experience to lead the organisation to a new level of success.
