Location: A choice of base location between Cambridge, Norwich, Hertfordshire, Lincoln or Reading, with some travel between these locations
Ceres Agri-Tech Knowledge Exchange Partnership has £4.7m funding to catalyse a revolutionary change between Universities, research institutes and companies across the agri-tech sector. It supports its partners (Universities of Cambridge, East Anglia, Hertfordshire, Lincoln, Reading, the John Innes Centre, NIAB and Rothamsted Research) to transform early stage innovation and technology into commercial attractive opportunities for the agri-tech sector. It does this by capitalising on the expertise and innovation from research, seeking and deploying commercial market insight from its commercial partners, designing and delivering projects to industry quality and funding those activities.
The role holder will work across the Ceres portfolio, potentially working with any of the partner Universities. They will be employed by Cambridge Enterprise, the commercialisation arm of the University of Cambridge. Cambridge Enterprise supports academic staff and students in licensing their inventions, creating and funding new companies and providing consultancy services to industry, government and others.
We are looking for Ceres Agri-Tech Project Development Manager(s) / Director(s) (depending on experience) to work across the Ceres partnership as part of the core team. The successful candidate will be responsible for a portfolio of projects. They will work with University researchers and Knowledge Exchange and Commercialisation teams to source, build, pitch for Ceres translational investment funding and manage projects to deliver commercially attractive opportunities for industry and investors. They will also need to engage with external organisations as development and commercial partners.
The successful applicant will have a strong background in agri-tech, and experience in a commercial environment, with an excellent track record of innovation management and delivery. Knowledge of marketing or other aspects of the development and adoption of early stage technology and commercialisation would be advantageous. Member of the Ceres core team may be based at any of the Ceres partnership members but will be expected to work with all partners as required.
You will be well-organised, an excellent team worker and communicator, and able to demonstrate effective influencing skills and effective commercial insight. An ability to prioritise and handle a number of projects simultaneously while maintaining an active customer interface is critical.
We will hold a two—stage interview process; first interviews will be held on Friday 15 February 2019 and we plan to hold second interviews on Monday 25 February 2019
