The Corporate Partnerships Team, alongside four other teams form the External Relations Department. Together with other departments in the university we deliver an integrated approach to the University’s relationships with external stakeholders, support the delivery of the university’s Knowledge Exchange Strategy and the sharing of knowledge to benefit our external community.
The work of the Corporate Partnerships Team is multifaceted but largely focuses on developing strategic partnerships and the delivery of the University Knowledge Exchange strategy to support the university achieve its strategic objectives and perform well in the KEF benchmark exercise. The team do this through the acquisition of: contracts to deliver consultancy, collaborative R&D, contract research and Degree Apprenticeship training to help businesses grow and organisations improve; identification of Intellectual Property licencing opportunities and; funding to deliver regeneration and development projects for communities to help them develop skills and capabilities.
You will be expected, not only to form and maintain good working relationships with academics, clients and professional service colleagues through using good account management skills, but also to provide outstanding opportunity management for the entire lifecycle of opportunities for the University – from opportunity identification through to review and upsell.
This post is responsible for the acquisition of contracts to: provide services to businesses; undertake collaborations with industry and deliver development projects to communities. This would be achieved through the pursuit of consultancy; industry led collaborative research (including Knowledge Transfer Partnerships); contract research and regeneration and development project opportunities. There will be a focus on supporting work with industry partners that are either directly funded or funded via public funders such as Innovate UK’s industry-focused collaborative R&D schemes.
Therefore, you will have experience and a proven track record of writing successful bids, proposals and ITT responses for these types of projects and in negotiating the commercial terms of a contract i.e. price, IPR and (where appropriate) related royalty percentages etc.
