Business Development Officers

These two full-time posts are available immediately on a fixed term basis until 29th July 2022.

The roles offer the opportunity for blended working with the expectation that the role holder would come on to one of our campuses (either in Exeter, Devon or Penryn, Cornwall) an average of 2 to 3 days per week. This is open to discussion with the successful candidate.

Summary of the role

Ranked among the top 150 universities in the world, Exeter has become one of the UK’s fastest growing and fastest rising research universities. We are investing in the Directorate of Innovation, Impact and Business to drive forward our already strong relationships with business, grow our potential for significant impact, and galvanise regional innovation.

Impact and Partnership (Business) Development Officers (IPDOs) are responsible for supporting business engagement, impact development, research collaboration with industry and government partners, relationships with key partners including corporate partners, and other forms of income generation from businesses and other external partners. Working within sector teams, IPDOs are responsible for helping the teams identify opportunities for partnership development and bringing together internal teams and external partners to work up proposals. They also support the development of long-term strategic partnerships with regional, national and international stakeholders.

These two posts will be working in the sector teams to support relationships with our strategic corporate partners, spanning our research strengths and education across all colleges. You will be working with the Impact and Partnership Development Managers and Heads of Sector to strengthen our strategic corporate relationships, supporting customer engagement, account management and new opportunity generation. Our sector teams are Environment & Clean Growth, Society, Culture & Organisations, and Data, Tech & Health. You will have opportunity to support multiple partners across one or more sector teams in this role, and should express any preferences in your application.

The successful candidates will be interested in strategic relationship development and should possess excellent communication skills.
