Business Development Officer: Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency

We are currently looking for an experienced Business Development Officer to join our Market Analysis, Manufacturing & Logistics (MML) Function within the Scientific Research and Innovation Group.

This is a full-time opportunity, on a permanent basis. This role is primarily based at our South Mimms site with occasional remote working a possibility, dependent upon the nature of the role. Not all roles will be suitable for remote working. Please be aware that this role can only be worked in the UK and not overseas.

It is divided into 6 sub-Groups, Innovation Accelerator, Clinical Investigations and Trials, Research and Development, Standards Lifecycle, Control Testing and Quality Assurance and Health & Safety.

Job description

The successful candidate will be the point of contact for one or more scientific areas, responsible for providing business input to bring complex biological life science opportunities to fruition, in line with One Agency objectives, strategies and policies. You will provide business support to enable the delivery of the Agency’s biological reference materials programmes – understanding the market position of products, assess opportunities and risks and convert those opportunities into orders supported by a legal agreement. You will analyse and report on sales, market and other data to provide insight into end user habits of mature products and to establish the market potential of innovative materials in the pre-development stage of the lifecycle.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will have a degree in a life sciences or related subject or equivalent knowledge. You will understand the biological Life Sciences sector gained from experience of working in a customer-facing business, marketing and/or knowledge/technology transfer role or similar. You will have experience of applying business acumen to maximise complex biological life science business opportunities in the life sciences sector. You will have excellent written and oral communication skills, able to communicate complex bioscience and business concepts clearly to internal and external audiences.
