Business Development Manager: Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Business Development Manager to support the transition of LITE to a new subsidiary company of LSTM.  You will be joining the team at an exciting time, helping to expand the client base of LITE and continue our growth within the organisation.

The post holder will proactively identify potential new clients for LITE services working with both SMEs in Liverpool City Region and larger international agrochemical companies.  You will also work closely with the Vector Department to identify additional services to be offered to potential commercial clients and develop protocols, costing templates and marketing material to support the expansion of services.  The postholder will also support the translational research activities of entomology projects funded by the Bloomsbury Consortium.

This role requires a highly driven, proactive person, who will have a good understanding of the vector control market, who is results focused and in their comfort zone with income targets. The role requires a collaborative and strategic approach to partnership development that is underpinned by a quality led approach that enhances and promotes LSTM’s brand and reputation at the highest levels. 

Key Responsibilities are (but not limited to):

Generate a sustainable business plan for LITE

Act as the primary point of contact with new and existing clients and engage with third parties

Responsible for negotiation of commercial deals, including formalities to close the deals

Stay abreast of competitor activity and market trends for assays to evaluate vector control tools

Advise existing and potential clients of the relevant regulatory pathways for product registration and acceptance in major markets

Support iiCON in development and implementation of the marketing strategy

Establish new and strengthen existing high-level relationships with key stakeholders

Activate robust due diligence processes for partnership activities that include clear risk assessment and mitigation.

The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively with high level executives in academic and industrial organisations.

Ideally you will be able to demonstrate:

Degree in relevant Life Sciences or Business management

PHD in entomology/vector biology (desirable)

A good understanding of the vector control regulatory pathways for product registrations (desirable)

Experience of evaluating vector control products (desirable)

Experienced in managing multiple projects simultaneously with a demonstrable ability to select and prioritise projects

Demonstrable ability to present in public at conferences and in business meetings

Experience of working at the industry/academia interface
