A dynamic and driven Business Development Manager is required to join the Faculty of Arts & Humanities, based at Manchester Metropolitan University’s All Saints Campus on Oxford Road.
A unique environment where Humanities, Languages and Social Science sits alongside the Manchester School of Art and the School of Fashion, the Faculty is home to several areas of world-leading and internationally excellent research. Your job will be to work with academics and other business engagement colleagues to identify opportunities for the development of commercial and grant income in order to achieve financial targets.
The role requires an experienced B2B Business Development Manager, with experience working within a Higher Education setting, to support our ambitious strategy to increase knowledge exchange activities with external partners in the public, private and third sector.
You will focus on managing and extending relationships with business, public and third sector clients, thereby increasing and diversifying income streams from contract research, consultancy, commercial CPD, KTPs, hire of facilities, growth of Intellectual Property income and other entrepreneurial activities.
You will contribute to the development of, and provide support for, the achievement of the Faculty’s Knowledge Exchange activities and targets.
Identify and develop new opportunities for the growth of Knowledge Exchange activities that contribute to income generation, impact, and opportunities for Manchester Met students.
Subject Matter Expertise
You will report to a Senior Business Development Manager and jointly provide support to the Faculty’s broad range of disciplines and research specialisms, so knowledge and experience in some of the following areas is strongly desirable:
Research Centre in Applied Social Sciences – Some of our most active areas of income generation relate to applied social science centres including: Policy Evaluation and Research Unit (PERU), Crime and Wellbeing Big Data Centre and the Manchester Centre for Youth Studies (MCYS)
Manchester School of Art Research Centre - Strengths in art, design, fashion, architecture, media and digital arts.

It is also important that you have an understanding of and experience working with funders of innovation and enterprise such as Innovate UK, UKRI and the Research Councils. Knowledge and experience of specialised funders such as the Arts Council England, Heritage Lottery Fund and Comic Relief is also desirable.
