Business Development Executive (Fixed Term)

We are looking for a dynamic, motivated and proactive individual to provide Knowledge Exchange and Commercialisation (KEC) support for the School of Biological Sciences in the University’s College of Science & Engineering.

The Opportunity:

Edinburgh Innovations seek to appoint a Business Development Executive to join our Business Development and Consultancy team working with the School of Biological Sciences. The role offers the opportunity to engage with the research community within the School of Biological Sciences, commercial partners across a broad range of sectors, establish contacts with new companies and identify new leads for engagement. Relevant commercial sector knowledge in the fields of AgriTech, Infection and Immunity and/or Environmental and sustainable Science is desirable. 

Your skills and attributes for success:

  • Educated to PhD level or holds a good degree in a relevant scientific area
  • Business Development and commercial experience
  • Knowledge and experience of intellectual property protection and exploitation
  • Proven track record in proactive opportunity generation leading to increased revenue
  • Experienced in reviewing / negotiating contracts and managing projects to deliver commercial and translational end points
  • Demonstrable account and client relationship management experience, including working with partners to jointly deliver customer services
  • Highly developed communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent influencing skills and demonstrable ability to successfully network with both academia and industry
