Bio Escalator Marketing and Events Manager: University of Oxford

Following the successful launch of the BioEscalator, we are looking for someone with the drive and expertise to help us to grow our community, support our tenants, increase our impact and extend our entrepreneurial reach.

The Oxford BioEscalator is a new innovation centre on the Old Road Campus, right alongside some of the University's major medical research institutes. Innovation in Oxford is thriving and growing rapidly; the BioEscalator is a key component in that growth, providing a nurturing environment for early-stage ideas and enabling start-up companies to become sustainable.

You will be a key member of the small, dedicated BioEscalator team, who all have a commitment to customer service and a can-do attitude. Working closely with the BioEscalator Business Manager and Business Engagement Manager, you will grow and strengthen BioEscalator brand awareness among our key target audiences, develop and implement a communications and marketing plan, lead on our internal and external communications channels and develop new channels as appropriate. Working with the BioEscalator team, you will develop a series of events with input from our tenant companies, internal collaborators and external partners.

To succeed in this role, you will need excellent communication and network-building skills. You will be practical and pro-active and relish taking on new challenges. You will also have an understanding of the needs of start-ups and the ecosystem in which they operate and a passion for enabling them to be successful. You will have experience of marketing across various channels, ideally in a science environment. You will enjoy working as part of a team, but have the confidence to take decisions and work independently.

This is an exciting and varied role, with plenty of scope for innovation and initiative.

This is a fixed-term contract for 2 years in the first instance and a full-time position, but part-time (minimum of 0.8 FTE) will be considered.

There is some flexibility in working hours, but some of our events are necessarily out of normal office hours. We work as a team to cover these, but some weekend/evening work will be required.

The closing date for applications is 12.00 noon on Monday 16 September 2019.
