Associate Scientist: Cancer Research UK

Cancer Research UK's Therapeutic Discovery Laboratories is the in-house CRUK drug discovery unit with a principal focus on establishing and prosecuting biologically-themed multi-project alliances with industry.  Based at the Babraham Research Campus, Cambridge, and the London Bioscience Innovation Centre, London, TDL comprises over 80 staff from both industrial and academic backgrounds.

At TDL we bring together the best minds in basic and clinical cancer research, the rigour and drive of pharmaceutical and biotech companies, and our in-house drug discovery and alliance management capabilities to deliver breakthrough medicines for cancer patients. In recent years, we have established successful alliances with AstraZeneca, Teva Pharmaceuticals, FORMA Therapeutics, Merck KGaA, LifeArc and Celgene.  We have also been successful in implementing the alliance model through the formation of spin-out companies, including Artios and iOnctura.

Our laboratories house the personnel and equipment to progress projects from initial hypothesis through to selection of candidate drugs.  We couple this with a deep understanding of academic and industrial drivers enabling us to build alliances that satisfy the curiosity of basic research and the rigour of drug discovery.
