You will drive the management and delivery of a large portfolio of strategic research and innovation programmes funded through NERC budgets (c£60m pa) and UKRI collective funds (c£65m pa and growing). You will lead a team of around 30 staff who provide expertise in the environmental science domain and programme management. You will also provide strategic advice and senior leadership for the Directorate and NERC objectives.
You will be responsible for the planning, delivery and resources for relevant UKRI-NERC priorities and outcomes, and for providing evidence of successful delivery. Your authority will derive from deep knowledge of relevant policy, environmental science domains and stakeholders.
You will need:
- Deep knowledge and experience of relevant UKRI-NERC strategy, business, policy, expert domains and stakeholders
- Credibility with relevant stakeholder communities and to be able to build and maintain strong working relationships with a range of stakeholders at all levels
- Excellent leadership and change management skills
The role will involve some UK travel with the possibility of an occasional international visit.
